The Heritage Service is part of East Renfrewshire Council’s Library and Information Services. We endeavour to preserve East Renfrewshire’s history through our extensive collections, which include:
- photographs, maps and newspapers
- individual archives
- local history book collection
- electoral registers
- valuation rolls, census records and old parish registers
These resources can be accessed at our heritage centres at Giffnock Community Library and Barrhead Community Library. Some items are kept off-site, but can be viewed by arrangement. There are also small local history collections at all of our community libraries.
